The second Distinguished Alumni Scholarship was awarded to Leslie Walter. Leslie is pursuing a degree in Nursing. She balances school with raising her son and working part time. Leslie dreams of eventually becoming a mental health nurse practitioner. Thanks to the Distinguished Alumni Scholarship, Leslie is a step closer to realizing her dreams.

"When I begin my career, I will approach my work with the knowledge that mental health is inseparable from our total health. I believe it’s an important part of all nursing. After completing the RN program my goal is to continue on as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner."
